Does anyone in Yahoo fantasy baseball have a problem with teams picking up numerous free agent pitchers?

Does anyone in Yahoo fantasy baseball (standard 5x5 mixed, weekly head to head, with daily roster moves) have a problem with teams picking up numerous free agent pitchers to load up on W and K’s?

When a team gets far behind ERA and WHIP, then will just drop and pick up any Starting Pitcher on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This is worse in the last round of the playoffs when teams will drop even premier SPs once they pitched there last start of the year.

We currently have an arbitrary maximum 3 free agent pick ups per week, but I am looking for other ideas. Rationale: it forces you to pick your pitching staff early in the process rather than sandbag with a bunch of hacks with 3 days to go (from FA and Waiver lists)….Fantasy sports is about picking your team and strategizing before play happens this rewards the team with the better “starting” pitching staff.

Any other solutions?

this is a good strategy it is fair if you really don't like it then you will just have to find a good strategy to defeat it

the greatest problem with that strategy is that the free agents are normally not to good so they most likely will not give them wins

Not unless there is a move limit. And to be honest, anyone that carries more than a couple of bench hitters after June 1st isn't gonna win their league anyway. Stock up on pitchers early, discard guys that get shelled once the weather gets warm, and replace them with hot hands. And keep in mind, even with roster move limits, most moves are made early on anyway - it doesn't do you any good to finish the year with the most available moves left and unused. But keep some in reserve to make sure you can attack whatever categories you need help with on or about August 15.
