the battery might be located in the fender if so alot of the newer cars have post mounted on the inner fender wheel that have a red plastis boot on them to pull off so you can install the postative cable on and ground the black to the engine

I own a shop, and what I would do is this. Test drive both of them, and which ever one is the fastest, consider purchasing it. They are basically the same vehicle, except the bells and whistles. The one that is the fastest, is the one that runs the best, and will probably get the best gas mileage. People get rid of a vehicle for a reason usually, and don't buy into the little old school teacher owned the car lie. Take the car to a reliable mechanic, and have him/her look it over, and tell you if its a good buy or not. A lot can be told about a car from underneath, and a sharp mechanic can usually find all the bad stuff that you would never think to look for. Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

  • 1. Buy a set of jumper cables. (if you dont own a pair)

    2. Find someone with a vehicle willing to jump start your car with theirs.

    3. Have the driver of the other vehicle park next to your car.

    4. Open the hood on both vehicles and locate the battery in both vehicles.

Safety Warning - Before connecting the cables to the battery make sure the other ends of the cables are not touching.

    5. Locate the + positive side of the battery and connect the (red cable) to the battery post in your car.

    6. Connect the - negative side (black cable) to your battery

    7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 to the battery in the other vehicle.

(once the cables are connected take a look at your car and see if you left any lights on, if so turn them off)

    8. Make sure the vehicle jump starting your car is running so it can send a charge to your battery.

    9. Let your car sit a few minutes before trying to start it so your battery charges a bit. Then start it and remove the jumper cables carefuly without touching the ends together.

Do not shut it off right away or you will find yourself doing it all over again.

If you forgot to turn any lights off and caused this to happen, let the car run for a while to recharge your battery and it should be fine, but I would still have the battery tested.

If you didn't leave the lights on then take it in for service and tell them you need the battery & alternator tested.

    Good Luck

DO NOT jump start this vehicle from the battery. You have 2 remote terminals on the top of the left side of the engine. One is black & 1 is red..match these up with your jumper cabes & boost from there. If you boost from the battery, you will most likely fry your amp.....OR.....

Call 1-800-CHEV-USA. It is a 2006 model & you should still be under factory warranty. Roadside Assistance will dispatch a dealership to do it for you, free of charge.

I have an '06 LS,the dealer told me that the only difference is the LT has power locks and windows, which to me is a pain in the butt when something goes wrong. I had a car before with power everything and got locked out of it when there was a problem. And was expensive to fix. Take them for a drive and make up your own mind. I personally love mine.

Where would I check to see if my battery will still be good for this winter? BTW I got a new battery in 2010, 72 month P/R warranty 2 year free replacement. One person who works at "Lube Cube" checked under the hood (where one usually "jumps" a car) told me I needed a battery STAT that it read battery not good/dead. Another person who works at O'Reilly's directly checked the battery in the trunk he said to get a "proper reading," which read good. I don't know who to believe? Does anyone know the correct way to check the battery? Thank You!

Hey on the new Cobalt the battery is in the trunk under the carpet you can pull it up and jump the battery directly as usual or you can place the jumps on the inside of the hood, but I forgot where. Your best bet is to jump it from the back.

  • if the car is an 06 the battery went dead because the alternater went bad ! still under warrenty take it to the dealer and let them take care of it for you but tell them that you need a loaner because you work out of your car and that without the loaner you'll be losing money .

check to see if it has any acid in it, lift off the caps and check the level, you can hook up jumper cables from a good battery plus to plus and minis to minis and then start you car.
