RedHat Linux offers courses all over the United States that teach varying levels of UNIX certification. I'm currently a UNIX / LINUX admin, and my suggestion would be to get a good book on LINUX (RedHat Unleashed or equivilent), load LINUX on a PC at home and start playing with it. There are also courses you can take online (some of which are free) that will teach you the basics of UNIX. Just Google it...

Any college/university specializing in computer science and/or any other computer-related fields is a great starting point! If you don't want to embark on that route, then I would suggest downloading and installing a Linux distribution. Linux forces you to learn UNIX, you can't operate it unless you sit down and really work with it. May I recommend "Slackware" Linux. Honestly, before Linux...I didn't even know what Unix was! Give it a shot and see for yourself =)
