I took Lexapro for a really long time. I remember that it began working quickly (2-3 weeks) and that the only side effects I had were slight nausea the first week, dry mouth the first month or so, and yawning (rare) the first week or two. My depression was well-controlled on Lexapro.

I've been on Lexapro for 6 months now, and it is life saver for me. Before that, I was miserable, anxiety attacks, panic attacks, depression, and hyperventilating almost everyday. If you start on a low dose, the side effects should be minimal. I started on 5 mg and now I take 10 mg. I wanted to take the lowest dose possible but it still was able to do its job. I take mine before I go to bed, just in case it made me sleepy. At first it might cause insomnia, but it will go away. I have gained more weight than what I wanted but its worth it to have my life back. Good luck...I reccommend it...no matter what other people say

It takes on average about 2 to 8 weeks to fully kick in. it may take less or more time. Everyone is different. I don't have any personal experience with it. But one thing I have learned is that it has a similar structure to the drug celexa. Be sure to monitor your dosage and side effects and let the doctor knows what is going on.

    Best of luck,

    Andy...

Lexapro made me have nightmares and not sleep very well. Anti-depressants affect different people in different ways. You might have a positive experience with it and you might not. Follow your doctor's instructions and report back to him if you experience anything unusual.

I was only on it for 10 days because it totally exacerbated all my symptoms and I couldn't handle that much anxiety and depression for as long as it would have taken to see if the side effects would wear off and it would help or not.
