Is hating the sound of small talk a sign of a much larger social disease?

I don't mind hearing people talk about business or important information, but the sound of small talk or chatter drives me nuts. Any one else?

The sound itself doesn't bother me so much, but understanding everything behind it does. I personally see nothing wrong with silence. You can communicate much more with your silence than you can with "The weather is nice today" or "Thats a nice skirt you're wearing today, Cindy". I always see small talk as an annoyance and bothersome thing that nobody likes to do but feels they have to. It drives me nuts too. I rarely like small talk; in certain situations with specific people I'm alright with it. But small talk for what it is....

It really doesn't sound like any real kind of social disease, but it would be considerate to appreciate others small talk. Sometimes small talk can lead to many great things including the development of relationships. Don't be afraid to join in and chatter a little. Enjoy life, it's too short to nick pick.

sure ,but its the definition of EGOTISM to believe that the cares and problems of others are less important than your time, so be pleasant ,,one day you may need to unwind and let go of a problem or concern ,so having folkes around to share the burden with ,is a blessing ,,not a curse
