The place is full of headhunters and ppl stay on trees. We eat Chinese as bak ku teh, Malays as rendang and Indians in a curry.

now enough of joke. Sarawak is a nice place. what area you live in? in Malaysia or Singapore you should be able to find them. to be short I'll just give you some clues and then you google it out:

    - Miri

    - Kuching

    - Kapit

    - Niah cave

    - don't go to waterfall of Serian, nothing to see

    - Matang wildlife

    - Santubong beach, Damai beach, Pandan beach (Kuching)

    - mount Santubong, mount Gading

    - Bako

    - Sematan / Lundu

check also tourism Malaysia web page. sure they have some info about Sarawak.

it is fascinating or boring. depends how you plan your trip.

Sarawak ppl are very friendly. urban areas are quite modern and developed but remote areas not, very poor, electricity from generator, sometimes no road (boat or walk). I recommend you to visit some longhouse.

edit: Kampung Budaya is a good place to develop your jaw muscles, you'll be yawning a lot. I went there and I'm not impressed at all. just go to a longhouse.

Sarawak is a big land... what kind of activity u wanna do here?

    beaches - Kuching, Miri

    night life - Kuching, Miri

long houses - seratok, sibu area (remote from the city)

    national park - kuching

lots more but i cant remember...

but if u gonna spend 2 weeks here, i suggest u should go to kuching, miri is a nice place but the town is quite small, lack of tourism spots and i dont think u're looking for shopping complex here rite (miri famous for shopping complex), u'll get bored after 4 to 5 days there.....

for rural activities, from kuching, u can go to Serian (1hour++) or sri aman (3 hours)

the most famous tourism spot in sarawak is Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching. But u're here too early, coz Rainforest World Music Festival is on 13-15 July 2007.

Sarawak is a huge state (The biggest state in Malaysia) but I'm not so sure what your 'cup of tea' is in regards to entertainment.

If you are looking for nightlife then maybe you would enjoy Kuching or Miri, if it's fauna and flora then Bau is home to the world's largest flower the Raffisia.

Scuba diving and other water sports can be found in Miri and a popular mountain climb/trek can be found at Gunung Santubong.

If you are there at the end of May you might enjoy visiting an Iban longhouse for the Gawai Dayak celebrations, but be careful of the local moonshine lankow (Wrong spelling) as it will knock your socks off!

At the end of the day it all depends on what you enjoy doing and Sarawak has it all there.

Good luck and enjoy your visit and drop by here and let us know how you got on.

    (Thanks for the thumbs down)

if you go to kuching, i'd say go visit Damai beaches near Santubong area. but the beaches might not be as clean as they used to last two hours. go visit Kampung Budaya, also near the area santubong.
