how do I quiet the thoughts in my mind?
I find that some days my mind is full of thoughts and I can't seem to shut it down. Sometimes I can by being focusing on what I'm doing but, there are days, when my mind is just overloading and I can't quiet it. What do I do?

My mind works the same way. It's constantly full of different thoughts. I have found that journaling helps to quiet my mind. I write about the thoughts that run through my mind during a particular day.

If your mind is 'overloading', don't suppress them. They're crying to come out. Make time to listen to what your mind is saying, one thought at a time. However, since you say it 'can't seem to shut down', you might need to allow yourself the privilege of just allowing your mind to 'pour out', without trying to 'single out the pieces'. ie, just let it out and not worry what is coming out. Thoughts are simply thoughts, no matter how 'bad'. Once you clear off the top layer, your mind will slow down and you will be able to find the thoughts come out more slowly and more understandably to yourself.

You may have a.dd. I go through the same thing. It's like your mind is on one thought then leads to an there thought then an there thought. I haven't been diagnosed yet, but my little brother has a.d.h.d and he said that's what his mind use too do that before he got on the meds.

Try resolving the issues that are clogging your mind one by one at an appropriate time. Write down the items that are bothering you and address them one at a time.

Look into trying some yoga, meditation or tai chi, it is good for the body and spirit. Also, taking a good long walk, and getting physically tired should also help. Apart from that, get stuck into some interesting hobbies, keep busy.

i think you should do breathing exercises whenever you feel uneasy. its like one of the strategies in yoga you breathe in your nose then slowly exhale it in your mouth it really helps removing your stresses in your body, it can actually recuperate the restless mind just focus, its like your transporting your stresse through your breath. or maybe you can look for other activities that may divert your thoughts like going to salon, working out in the gym, or get a massage. treat yourself out! sometimes our body really needs it...
