Hamsters can get colds and allergies just like humans. They are different viruses, but they can still get sick. If it's a cold, letting it run its course may work, but then again, hamsters can be fragile and the virus may just be more than they can handle. Also, if it's an allergy, you would need to have tests done to see if your vet could determine what the allergy may be from so you can avoid putting your hamster in contact with it. All in all, you may wish to take your hammie to a vet to be certain.

I would go and ask a vet (take the hamster in the cage)

One of mine used to do that for a short time and lived for a while after but i would defiantly go to the vets just to be on the safe side

    good luck

I think that she is scared of you or something like that.Handle her more.Don't disturb her. When she makes choking sounds I think she really is choking. You should ask an expert.I know one. They are my friends. His name is Mark and has a friend Sofia to help him out.Their email is Pet_Service@yahoo.ca .I asked Sofia many questions about my hamster. She answered them perfectly and in just one day.Mark used to be a vetrenarian that does operations to animals and check-ups but now he only does check-ups.Sofia still does operations and check-ups.They are both 30.I hope they can help you!Ask as much questions as you like! They never get tired.

Does she do this when you go to pick her up? Hamsters sometimes get 'defensive' like that, on their back, mouth open, making nasty noises, to ward of threats (imagined or real!).

she could be having a seizure. Not sure if the vet could do anything but you probably would feel better if you at least knew what was going on..

Aww I hope she isn't dying. I would bring her to the vet and see what he thinks. She might be scared of you and is trying to defind herself. Did you just get her? She might just be scared.
