Doberman owners: how often do you walk your dog?
According to Ceasar Milian, all dogs are supposed to get an hour long walk each day. I used to wake up hours before work to walk my dog but it's been about a week since our last walk. Do you walk your dog every day? Basically I feel guilty and want to hear that other people are like me...

I feel the same way. I have a doberman and I havent walked him in a while. But I will do that tomorrow, and its really good to walk/jog your dobie for an hour a day, especailly dobies. But you dont have to do the whole hour in the morning. You should walk him about 30-45 minutes in the morning, and an hour or more at night. Dobies love to walk ar night, especailly befor ethey go to bed. They are protecting dogs and part of that is "patroling", so they like to check everything out. My dobie has to be let out at night for 20 minutes or he wont sleep. We have acrage so he has to see what animals are out tonight and if they're ok to be there, and is there "someone" hiding. Lol, hes a nut.
But yea, dont feel guilty, just remeber the time when he has caused a day of hell!!! Lol, just as long as you take him for that walk!!!

Dobermans are great dogs, I have a APBT, also an awesome dog, and both share the habit of having a ton of energy.
Try to walk your dog everyday if you can, if you can't try to JOG with your dog 2-3 times a week, this will make them even happier.
You can slouch a week, or a couple of days every so often and you will be fine, just don't make a habit out of it or your dog will get bored and find thing to keep him entertained, (That couch sure looks yummy, I bet it tastes yummy too. *chomp* YAY! Now I can play with this fluffy stuff all day!)

Usually, I walk my dober girl about 2 or 3 times a week, at about 15-30 mins each walk. But everyday, i play with her for a good 1-2 hours(either outside throwin the ball, or inside just doing different things.) If your dobie has too much energy, then I would recommend you walking your dobie more than once a week, just to drain their energy. But dont think you a "bad mommy", cause your not. I know alot of people that dont even walk their dogs, ever!

I don't own a dobie but I do own two dogs a ESS and a Chow/herding mix. We walk our dogs at least 1 hour a day plus the ESS gets on the treadmill at least 20 minutes a day. Get back to walking your dog daily it does them good. Exercise (walking) the dog is a vital part of the dogs being. It develops their role in the pack, good luck.

Yes, dogs should be walked twice a day for about 30 minutes each, not just for exercise but for socialising with other dogs and the vital "sniffing". You really should do it if you want to avoid aggression problems with your dog.
Having said that, there are two rottweilers round the corner from me and they are never, ever taken out for walks - they just act as guard dogs. They go crazy barking when I go past with my dog and I feel so sorry for them.

I try to walk my dobie 3-4 times a week for a good 45 min each time. She is a puppy and full of energy. We also have a beagle and they play for hours on end.. so she gets a lot of play time in,

We have a large ranch, so we run and play everyday. We did at one time live in town and we would walk only 4 X pr wk... i did make sure she had plenty of time to run a in the back yard... If I lived in an apartment I would defiantly walk her everyday.

I walk my girl for about forty minutes every night. Sometimes, though, if I'm too busy (read "pulling an all-nighter ") or violently sick, i don't walk her.
