blood during bowel movemenr?

my friend has had bleeding during bowel movements and has gotten worse to the point the water is red. I know the obvious "seek medical attention". However, this person doesn't have insurance and is stubborn.

I just want ideas of what this may be. I know the list of possible causes, however the blood turning the water red should narrow it down.

If its bright red its probably hemorrhoids, if its dark red she has no choice but to go see a doctor. Have her go to www.webmd.com and she can provide more exact answers or symptoms and get a more exact diagnoses. She can at least go to the state health clinic.

There are a few things it can be, all are serious, she needs to get checked out, if she waits too long, it can turn into something more serious. Does she have any other symptoms? Is the blood dark red or bright red? How long has it been happening? Tell her to go to a health care clinic, one of those walk-in type, they are usually only like a flat rate of $170 or something (at least they are here on the west coast) when you dont have insurance. Depending on her other symptoms, if she has any, it potentially can be chrones disease, colon cancer, ulcer in her intestines.. umm Im trying to thing what else they said potentially it could be when I went in, those are all I can remember, but the specialists I saw assured me how serious an issue this is. Try not to let your friend take it too lightly.

    Good luck to you both,

    Toni Lynne :)

It can be many things, has this friend had anyone check to see if she has hemorrhoids? That can cause bleeding and itching and discomfort. Are her bowel movements normal or have they changed recently? Does this person have any pain either before moving her bowels or while going? I honestly would have a MD check this out as it could be something as simple as hemorrhoids to something severe such as Crohn's, Ulcerative colitis to colon cancer. There really isn't enough information in your question to tell what the issue is. My advise-have them go to the dr.

You should do a search for someone in your area that handles the uninsured. Where I live there is an interfaith clinic that bases the bill on income. Most cities will have such a clinic or perhaps a University Medical program...

But if I am looking at a possible choice between paying the Doctor or the Mortician.....With the Doctor you can always file bankruptcy....................

This could be any number of things from a small tear in the lining of the bowel from straining which will heal on it's own to a life threatening hemmorhage. My step-daughter has Crohn's disease and had the same problem. It finally got so bad that she started passing out. We took her to the ER and she finally got the help she needed.

The discomfort concerns me, if it have been in simple terms blood and had purely befell for some days i could say see a Dr. if it maintains. The discomfort lasting numerous hours ought to point a much better difficulty than a anal fisher or hemorrhoid. you need to make certain your Dr.

I heard that blood from the rear is probably cancer. Why doesn't she go to the emergency room. They give illegal mexicans free medical care there... she might get some too?
