Why did Steven King dislike Stanley Kubrick's take on The Shining?
I have not read the novel but I love the movie, what are some of the reasons King disliked the adaption by Kubrick?
Stephen King, sorry, I think he deserves his name to be spelled right.
I agree, the reason I love the movie is because of Jack Nicholson. If they would've cast someone else it would be a horrible movie. Shelley Duvall's performance is almost embarrassing.

Sadly, as happens with so many of Mr. King's works, once he releases creative control to another person, it then becomes "their" version of his original. I have read interviews with Mr. King and he has written in other books that he didn't believe the movie's director stayed true to the content nor the intent of the book, and having read the book many times, and seen both movie versions, I must agree.

Yeah, the Shining, the movie just sucked--except for Jack Nicholson--but Shelley Duvall was horrible.

Because Stanley Kubrick was insane and twisted the shining into something that would fit his movies, it wasn't accurate.
