I confess that other than what I read about him, I know little of Charley Burley. I'm a video addict with a large collection and don't have a single Charley Burley fight. I know a lot of the top fighters of his day ducked him but (forgive me Smitty, this is needed here) IF EDDIE FUTCH SAYS YOU ARE THE FINEST ALL AROUND FIGHTER HE HAD EVER SEEN, that is good enough for me. Burley beat Archie Moore, he would have beat Jake LaMotta.

Burley by TKO, rage wouldn't have saved Jake, Charley Burley fought all the way up to heavyweight against the likes of Izzard Charles. His size and skill would have been too much for Jake's pressure style.

Burley by easy decision. He beat Archie Moore. Ray Robinson and Billy Conn wanted nothing to do with him. LaMotta fought 3 of the murderer's row black fighters: Lloyd Marshall, who beat him easily. Holman Williams, who was ancient. Bert Lytell, who lost questionably to Jake.

Jake had no punch(30 KOs in 106 fights) and nothing to offer Burley.

Any of the "Black Murderers' Row" can beat LaMotta. It's a group of tough, and talented boxers from a different era. Most

of them were avoided by other boxers, thus they fought each

other to earn a living and not all of them were enshrined in the

international boxing hall of fame.Charley and Eddie Booker(on 2000) were both inducted, after 50 years in the case of

Charley Burley(his record will knock you out).

Hey Keith I just posted this question too ha, ha! Oh well, I'll answer yours now and say that I believe that Burley would have outboxed the very tough and durable LaMotta in this fight and win the decision.
