How do you make miniature people?
I have built a miniature log cabin and some furniture. Now I need some miniature people to use all these wonderful things but I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me?

If you want to make them from polymer clay, or an air-dry clay, (not any clay which has to be fired in a kiln), there are loads of lessons and examples on my site for making small figures in all kinds of ways:

(...click on WHIMSICAL, under WEBSITES...)
http://glassattic.com/polymer/kids_beginners.htm
(...click on the SCULPTING subcategories)

(... click on CLOTHING, or on other types of figures, body parts, etc.)

(... click on categories under HEADS...)
There are also lessons, tips, examples, etc., for making all kinds of other miniatures including furniture, foods, dishes and cookware, trees/flowers/landscaping, as well as whole structures and bases for them, etc., on these pages:

Hmmm... the key to this is WHAT scale did you build your log-cabin in ??
Standard Modelling scales for figures are 1/24, 1/35, 1/48, and 1/72. You can take these and with modelling putty, a hobby-knife, and patience change them to fit clothing styles for your needs.
Anything larger, you'd perhaps look at dolls / action figures and clothing them.
And the most difficult... building up figures on wire-armatures with clay or putty. Others have provided FINE links for this technique.
An interesting project... Good luck

Here's one way http://www.traceycampbellpearson.com/books/dollhou...
or if you want them more realistic, you could get a book like this and change the clothing to something more modern http://www.amazon.com/Making-Miniature-Dolls-Polym...
or just experiment with polymer clay and different molds. I know they make molds for faces, hands and feet.

I know craft stores, such as Michael's and A.C.Moores sell doll house furniture. They probably also have the people. Check there.

how small should they be? bend wire to make a skeleton and wrap with embroidery thread, then you can make them sit and everything.
