Cheap Gas vs Expensive Gas?
Does it matter WHERE you buy your gas? Is cheaper gas lower quality? I've heard that, but I've also heard that all gas is created equal. Anyone know anything?

gas is gas. the only difference in brands is the additives that are added to keep engine clean and moisture free. the off brand stations buy their gas on the open market from the place that is selling it the cheapest. so if u go to "no name" they might have shell one week and texaco the next. there are only so many refineries in the country and they are owned by the major oil companies. some cars prefer certain gas brands over others. none of my cars have been thrilled with exxon. happy motoring.

Well.....In the beginning all gas is created equal. Then it receives addatives etc. Hence the different octane levels at the pump. The higher the octane level the better the gas. Also, some companies such as 7/11 here in Canada buy the remainds of a tank. For example the Shell tanker will come to town, go around and fill the Shell stations and the 7/11 will buy what's left in the tank. So by emptying the tank they get all the water that has accumulated in the tank from condensation. They buy it at a lesser price and sell it at a lesser price but the fuel is also not the best...........however on a lighter note, while buying the fuel you also are getting some water......which is more expensive than fuel so I guess some would consider that a deal?????

Yes cheaper gas could be considered lower quality. It's called an octane number. "Octane number is the number which gives the percentage, by volume, of iso-octane in a mixture of iso-octane and normal heptane." To be honest the difference is negligible unless you have an engine with an extremely high output, like race cars, etc it helps prevent "knocking".

All octane does is ward off engine knock (detonation). Use the backside octane you may without the the engine making a knocking sound. pointless bigger octane does not make your automobile run better!!! If all you require is 87 and you utilize ninety 3, the only distinction you will see is a lighter wallet. Octane is a extensive myth that no-one knows. the only element is does is administration engine knock. it somewhat is all. Use regardless of your proprietor's handbook recommends, something bigger will basically fee you cash. wish this permits.
