    How about some real advice:

    1. Win XP-- start/control panel(classic view), system- How much RAM do you have??? It is listed here

You need to consider having 1 GB these days

    2. After Ram upgrade- remove all AV components and all Anti-Spyware componets- start/control panel/add and remove programs. This is where you should be romoving other programs you alluded to.

    3. Get AVG 7.5 anti-virus(google it) it is free and works fairly well(nothing is perfect) Run a full system scan(it will anyway)

    4. Go to the Microsoft Download Center(google it) and get yourcomp updated and then get Windows Defender(anti-spyware) for FREE-Run full system scan

    5. start/run enter-cmd-in the block and OK

type in netstat in the black screen and hit enter-Count the active connections, then open Internet Explorer and put netstat in the black screen and hit enter- hopefully you only get one more active connection.

This should make your life easier. YOU NEED more RAM and valid defensive software.

The speed of the Computer depends on many things. You haven't mentioned the amount of RAM you are having in your Computer. You should increase the RAM to speed up your Computer.

Virus, Trojan, Adware, Spywares can decrease your Computer Performance. So you should use a good Anti-Virus Software which will be able to protect you against all of these threats.

I will suggest you to use Kaspersky Anti-Virus. It is one of the best.

Built into Windows is a special tool called the "Microsoft System Configuration Utility" or simply "MSCONFIG." Designed to help you troubleshoot problems with your computer, MSCONFIG can also be used to ensure that your computer boots faster and crashes less.

If your Add remove Program is not working Properly that means your Windows may have develop some Internal Problems. You can use a Registry Tool which will fix the problems you are having in Windows Installation

If you are still not able to remove programs using your Add Remove Programs option you can try a third party software to do that. Add Remove Plus is the solution.

Innovatools Add/Remove Plus! offers an easier and better way to uninstall programs you no longer want on your computer. All you have to do is double-click on a Desktop icon called "Uninstall Programs", quickly find the program you want to uninstall and click a button.

Depending on which OS you are using.. WinXP or WinVista or even WinMe... you can click on START, then click on RUN, and type in "msconfig" and hit ENTER.

This will bring up your configuration tool, you can then go through item by item and select which programs and so forth you wish for the computer to load on Startup. It is a tabbed box, you can select a variety of things.

I would suggest unchecking fairly useless stuff, like BackWeb, and Motive Monitor.

These can all be done "manually" when you want to, rather than sucking up resources by running in the background and automatically starting at every reboot.

Same goes for Yahoo Messenger, AIM, crap like that. Disabling their startup, does NOT affect you being able to click on their shortcut and launch the program, just to be clear on that.

I would HIGHLY recommend going to Cnet, or Download.com or ZDnet and looking for a FREEWARE app called "FreeRAM XP Pro" developed by Yourware. It optimizes your RAM on the fly to increase performance. Totally free, no spyware, no registration, good utility. It runs in the task bar, and shows you how much of your CPU is being used.
