What are some common reactions to birth control or staph infection?
My 16 yr. old daughter is being treated for a staph infection that started after beginning birth control. She gets boil like bumps that come to a head, and when popped produce pus and a green like core. She is on her second round of antibiotics. This never happened to her until being put on birth control patches and then we switched to the pill (after less than a week-we thought the patch was causing this). Has anyone ever heard of a reaction to birth control of this nature??

I'm certain that your daughter did NOT get a staph infection from a birth control patch. Did you ask your doctor this question? I'm certain he gave you the same answer I just did.
Unless of course the patch just happened to have the infection on it and your daughter put it right on top of an open wound....

I looked up the risk factors of staph infections and found these:

No mention of birth control patches, so maybe its better to look for the cause of the infection to know where she caught it and prevent further contamination.
