That terrible! I feel really bad for you! I've been a vegetarian for almost a year and a half, and until a few months ago, when my little sister decided to go vegetarian, I was the only one in family. I have had bad dreams about accidentally eating meat and then realizing what I did... I think that's a nightmare a lot of vegetarians have. And I'm sure that at some point I've accidentally eaten it, but just haven't found out about it! For your tummy ache probably just ake pepto bismol or something, and as for the emotional pain- just realize that the chicken was dead even before you made the choice to eat it. It isn't your fault that it was killed! Somebody else would have eaten it anways! Next time you are about to eat meat, think back to how you feel right now- Do you really want to experience this again?
I hope you feel better soon! : )

it particularly is isn't as undesirable as what befell to me; My mom made me corn bread I ate a medium sized piece and alter into going lower back for seconds, while i ended to verify the field i spotted it had LARD interior the ingrediants.i'm vegan and that i felt so undesirable. issues like those are going to take place. Even the main careful vegetarian will devour something by employing an coincidence. My aunt a seroius vegetarian ate lobster sauce for some years without understanding it had pork in it. If something has meat on it, do exactly no longer %. around it no remember how tempting, basically refuse and discover something else to devour. on a daily basis you have the possibility to start up over new, this is not such as you went out and intentionally ordered a hen-1st baron beaverbrook salad. this is okay hun. Props to you for being vegetarian!

Wow, I read some ignorant answers, so lets see if this helps................... I can see how you would feel bad for breaking a commitment that you believe strongly in (I would too), however it happens and I think everyone has a breakdown point, just pick yourself back up. Learn from your experience, and try not to do it again. I am a proud vegetarian who believes in humane treatment of animals, and I DO NOT believe that animals were put on this earth for us to eat. Maybe look at your diet and figure out if your missing something that you can substitute with vegetables. I think you should be proud of yourself for keeping a commitment for three months!!
Be proud of yourself, and keep up the good work you were doing before your meat break down :)

Adreeee, these things happen and will probably happen again. So I suggest beginning a ritual to come to terms with the situation, and follow through with it the next time you find yourself being fed something you do not want. (I was once served a pizza with the pepperoni under the cheese, how could I tell. When I was bartending I was fed a few things unknowingly, stuffed mushrooms with pork, a small amount of crab dip et al.)
Here is my ritual:
I typically take a long walk by myself and think about the meat industry. I prefer wooded areas, I don't take my dogs. I need the time to reflect on my role in what happened.
Did I not ask enough questions?
Did I not specify clearly?
Did I not look closely at what I was eating?
These answers will help you in the future, they also will help you feel less guilty. Then I get home and relax, and make a small donation to an animal friendly cause.
(mine is the Peace Abbey in Sherborn, MA) - they are online.
The donation is closure for me and calms me knowing I am helping to prevent this from happening to an animal in the future.
BTW - I live in Delaware - so I am not pushing my own organization. Find your own, make it one you are comfortable with.

Remember why you decided to be a vegetarian, and you'll never crave meat. I never ate meat knowingly since I became a veg, and it's been over 11 years. Mistakes did occur, I just learned from it and moved on.
It's only been 3 months for you, so you have much to learn. you should look for veg*n recipes on the net, that are tasty and good substitutes for meat . Learn to cook, it is very important.
But dont feel bad about what happened, as long as you dont do it again. It feels horrible for a reason, but you cant change it now. You have learned that lesson, so try harder from now on to make your ethics as practical as possible in everyday life- What you believe in should never go against what you do.

Maybe you'll feel better if you ask your family not to eat meat for a day or two. That way, it'll be like nothing ever happened, you know? They save another chicken in the place of the one you ate.
Or you could start some king of website/campaign against meat-eaters.
I'm really proud of you, I've tried to be a vegetarian and it is HARD TO DO!!!
Don't feel bad,

You slipped up- you can't be perfect. Don't beat yourself up and move forward. I think it is great that you are thoughtful about the food you consume and the industry that you support by eating meat. Just try exploring some veggie recipes and who knows? Maybe if you offer to do some cooking , your family will at least be open to eating veggie some nights and you won't be faced with having it in your face daily. Hope your stomach feels better soon!

there are 2 way u can choose......
1: try to eat meat and don;t think eating meat is not good as the food which like chicken, cow, meat and even fish(animal) is cration of God) which is given to the mankind to eat/consume. and the reason y u having pain is because u d nv eat meat long time ago and u need time to changing back ur diet.. so the timne will pass and u will adapt. then u won't felt pain any more,..
2. u felt guilt.. and try to eat only vegetables... but are u now a pure vegetarian as those who eat vegetables only will eat the food which is cook by the plate which nv touch/connect with meat.. then.. eating vegatable is healthy but u will become thin faster and u need to find or do servey on food that highly give u carohidarte. this is very importance as v use energy everyday....
so .. u should think wat is the best between this two.. as everyone need a balance diet everyday... healthy life lead to a happy day and meaningful live... u think bout it... take care...

I am not a vegetarian but I did kind of the same thing as you did and I felt sick. Try to walk for 15-30 minutes and drink mineral water. It will go away. It worked for me.

From the very early existence of humans we have been a species that eats whatever food there was available, wether meat ,fruit ,or vegetables,While we have a greater variety and choice today, you should not feel bad about eating meat after your decision to become a vegetarian,if that is your true inner belief than you can commit to yourself to not consume meat in the future,I respect your choice and believe if all of us supposed superior species did the same,we could feed the world so much easier.
