explain how a molecule can have polar bonds yet be nonpolar?

    polarity can be express by vectors...then in nonpolar molecules these vectors can be added tnx to parallelogram and they sum is 0

  • O=C=O has polar bonds but the molecule is not polar.

    You have to look at the molecular geometry

    polarity is a vector quantity....two equal and opposite polariies ie polar bonds cancel each other.
