Yes, we are still in a sinful state. But we do have a hope of not being there and that is because God`s original purpose for mankind will be accomplished and all of mankind will live together and worship the only true God. God made this provision available to each us by providing his son as a propitiatory sacrifice for us so that we can attain that perfect Body and Mind that will contribute to a beautiful life full of happiness. As one perfect man Adam lost perfection for mankind, One perfect man , Jesus gained it back. These hopes and promises are in the bible.

    Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

I walk after the Spirit, but I live in a sinful world. I won't be perfect until I move from the sinful world to a new perfect world.

I quote, "... notice the use of the Greek continuous present in both verbs. John is saying, ' No-one who continually abides in him makes a habit of sinning' and again, 'No-one who habitually sins has seen or known him.' " Yes, Christians are sinners - Satan catches us off guard at times.

Sinners are an invention of the early church. Threatening good people with hell and damnation for daring to be born into a dirty sinful body, kept people subdued and under control. It still does apparently! The church is very wealthy as a result.
