Setting up a form within an Adobe PDF?

I have a PDF file (it's basically a fax cover sheet), and I want people who are using Adobe Reader to be able to type into the fields. I tried added text boxes, and that works as long as the person viewing the PDF is using Acrobat but it does not work with Reader. Is there any way I can set this up to allow typing in Reader?

A PDF is an Adobe Acrobat record. you may view those archives with Adobe Acrobat. think of of PDF archives and digital print-outs. you may't upload/edit them without the two having the expert edition of Adobe Acrobat put in (very costly) or another PDF enhancing application. you may't amend a PDF without those purposes otherwise.

No, not really. Reader doesn't allow editing of pdfs including form filling, you need either the full acrobat or to unlock the hidden form-filling features of Reader with a paid-for LiveCycle Acrobat extension.

    Take a look at this:

    (about halfway down)

    and this:
