blank transponder key question?
what kind of luck do you think i would have buying a blank transponder key off ebay. Getting it cut off my original key and programing it for my 1999 Mercury Cougar? and does anyone know the sequence of things i have to do to program it?

Yes, you can find a key on ebay, look for an H-72 transponder key. Get it cut to match. If you have 2 keys that already work, you can program it yourself. But if you only have 1 working key, it will require a machine to be programmed. An NGS machine CAN do it, but it's not a common use, they would have one in most garages, but finding someone that knows that particular use of the machine is a bit different.
If you HAVE 2 working keys, and have had a new one cut, the programming is as follows: Insert 1 working key into the ignition, turn from off, to on, then remove it. Within 15 seconds, do the same with the second working key. once that is done, insert the new key, turn it from off to on, wait about 10-15 seconds, then remove it. Wait about another 20 seconds to ensure the vehicle has exited programming mode, and your key should work flawlessly.
