Harry Greb vs. Ray Leonard?

Harry Greb vs. Ray Robinson?

Fight is at 155 lbs for both fights.

Also a few days ago an answerer stated that if Joe Frazier had never faced Muhammad Ali he would have been a nobody. Only one person fired back about this statement. What are your feelings about this statement directed toward Frazier?

Thanks ahead of time for your answers.

Update:

Thank you loc. I was wrong about Santana. I made the wrong judgement. Anyone who reads my answers a month ago before my error will see what I really thought about Santana. I have apologized and have been in contact with Santana's people and have no excuse. I was wrong. You are welcome to answer any of my questions. If I take something from Santana it is not by intention but really what would be wrong with that. He was a great person, very knowledgeable, has experienced and met people we talk about. I've written these things before and if anybody should know alot about Santana it would be me. I have no excuses for my actions you, Smitty, and Terry are always welcome to answer my questions as stated before. I am ashamed for my inappropriate statements about Santana.

Keith thanks for the great question sir! Harry Greb was good enough to beat Gene Tunney and often fought much larger men. He threw punches non stop a lot like Aaron Pryor and feared no one in the ring and even challenged Jack Dempsey. Greb was also a very rough fighter that would sometimes resort to questionable tactics during a fight. I believe against Leonard he would fight him much the way Duran did during the first fight and would be very aggressive. Leonard was more of a pure boxer and beat great fighters such as Hearns and Hagler (questionable decision) I believe this would be a very competitive and close fight with Greb edging out a split decision. I believe that Greb vs Robinson would have also been a good fight with the tough Greb coming after Robinson with his non stop punching style. Robinson in my opinion is the greatest middleweight and welterweight champion of all time and his overall boxing ability would earn him the decision in a competitive fight. Make no mistake about it, Greb was a great fighter and would have been tough for anybody. You couldn't knock him down and he didn't stop throwing punches. I believe that Joe Frazier was a great fighter and would have continued to be a great fighter even if he never faced Ali. The fights with Ali however did highlight his great career.

This weight handicaps Greb, who's best weight was between 160-165. He fought Mike O'Dowd at 156 and was lethargic(some papers still gave him the nod). Leonard might be able to potshot Harry at this weight and win a decision. At 160 or above I'll take Greb by Dec.

Robinson/Greb is hard to imagine. How does Robby cope with a fighter who's faster and throws more punches than he? How does Greb take the shots of a guy who can actually HIT him? If these 2 fought 5 times you'd get 5 different results. I say Greb gets most of the nods, but only at 160 or above.

Frazier cleaned out an entire division before he fought Ali. He wouldn't be as highly regarded had he not fought Muhammad, but a "nobody"?? Clearly whoever wrote that needs to think before they write.

Great questions, and I gotta tell you I still haven't forgiven Ray Leonard for the Hagler, and Hearns fights. Harry Greb and Leonard would have been similar to Leonard and Hagler. Eventually Greb would have got to Leonard, and with judges who actually score fights correctly, Greb would have won. If the judges would have allowed Leonard to run for 2:45 of the rounds, then end with a harmless flurry to steal the rounds, it would have been a carbon copy of the Hagler/Leonard fight.

Ray Robinson put the sweetness in Sugar, and with all due respect to Leonard & Seales, Walker Smith was the real Sugar Ray. As Great as Greb was, Robinson was better.

    Robinson by decision.

Joe Frazier had the best left hook in the history of the heavyweight division. Without Ali, he's still got the best left hook in the history of the heavyweight division, still world champion, and definitely a "somebody" in the history of boxing. The blogbaba ranks Joe far above Tyson in the history of the heavyweights.

Great matchup's. Thanks for the quesitons.

SMITTY- Oh, I see...so "speed" didn't exist in boxing until the black athlete came along, huh?*LOL* You're funny. Tell you what, why don't you look into fighters like Jack McAuliffe, Nonpareil Jack Dempsey, and especially Harry Greb. All those cats were known for their blazing speed and all were pasty white. It's actually very conceivable that Greb was faster than Sugar Ray. Do a little research on Harry Greb and you may learn "how anyone who knows boxing can think that Greb was faster than the real Sugar Ray". It's called RESEARCH my friend. Something you've obviously done very little of judging by your indignant response.

They should fight at MW if anything, and wouldn't you rather see Robinson vs Greb than Leonard vs Greb? Greb takes Leonard probably by UD due to constant swarmage.

Against SRR I am under the opinion that he loses a UD or gets TKO'd, that's how good SRR was.

Frazier would eventually been champ even if he didint fight Ali but he wouldnt be as big as he his without the most famous, hottest, most viscious rivalry in history. And Sugar Ray is way to fast for Greb. Sugar would kill hands down!

PROLOGUE - HOW COULD ANYONE THAT ALLEGEDLY/SUPPOSEDLY KNOWS BOXING THINK THAT GREB WAS FASTER THAN THE REAL SUGAR RAY.

ONCE TONY KUBEC WAS ASKED ABOUT THE GREATEST THING THAT HAD HAPPENED IN BASEBALL IN HIS LIFETIME. HE SAID THAT IT WAS THE BLACK ATHLETE AND THE SPEED THAT THEY BROUGHT WITH THEM. IN BOXING AND TRACK, THE BLACK ATHLETE HAD ALREADY BROUGHT THAT TO THE TABLE.

GREB VS LEONARD - IN THIS BOUT, I HAVE LEONARD IN A MAJORITY DECISION.

GREG VS ROBBIE - IN THIS BOUT, I HAVE ROBINSON IN A CONVINCING 15 RD UNANIMOUS DECISION.

FRASIER WOULD HAVE BEEN CHAMPION NO MATTER WHAT. BUT HAVING COMPETITION WILL MAKE A ONE

    GREATER FIGHTER.

TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS DIVINE.

TO ME THAT MEANS I DON'T HAVE TO FORGIVE NO DARN BODY.

ALSO, SOMETHINGS ARE NOT FORGIVABLE. SO ASKING A PERSON FAMILY FOR FORGIVENESS. STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
