Is this burnout or just plain tired of people with no values?
I teach school. I was raised to respect teachers and rules. I was also taught to respect my classmates and that certain things are wrong, such as name calling, not doing my work, and most definetly being defiant of teachers. I don't think its just me. I really enjoy the good days, but I get tired of kids telling me off, telling me what I'm going to do, and griping at me all the time!! I've considered a career change but I'm really thinking of staying home with my son until he starts school. Are there other teachers out there who are in the same boat?

I am not a teacher, but here is my response all the same. YES. You are not alone. Our society has become a ME society where many people feel that they deserve or are entitled to something rather than earning it. I feel this is the root of the problem you are talking about. I think this comes from our inability to stay at home and raise our own children with real values, not the ones the politicians talk about. Because of the demands of the two income debt that many Americans have put themselves in, we as a society expect others in our schools or churches or community centers to raise our children. This is a sad state of affairs. But on the good side--many people recognize this and are trying to make changes.
A year ago I sold my business and became a stay at home dad. It way the best decision I have made in my life. We are now adopting a second child. When they get to school age I will look at going back into the work force.
Good luck with your life journey.
