Fuel Pump on a 2000 chevy blazer?
My chevy blazer wouldnt start so i had it towed to a shop to see what was wrong with it. They said its the fuel pump and to replace it that would cost $900.00 plus the labor. My question is isnt that kind of pricy i understand they can charge what they want, but is that the going rate. I am going to look around to see if someone would give a better deal though.

We are talking American dollars, right? That's not pricey, its insane!
Go somewhere else, make sure they use a AC Delco pump and the price should be at least $500 less - total!

Fuel pump on line is $50.00 and labor shouldn't be over 2 hours say about $150. Total cost shouldn't exceed $200.
Per youtube make sure your car is almost out of gas, drain the little that is left, remove the straps holding it in place. Remove the old one, reset the new one take 10 minutes to re-install and your Blazer is as good as new.

An electric fuel pump assembly, with fuel float and fittings can go upwards of $300 today, but prices vary...soooo, $600 labor is definitely way too much, even at a Dealer...it's about a 2 hour job, maximum...

I own a 98 GTP and it kind of giving me the same problems. I searched it on line and came to the conclusion that it could be either 1) RELAY 2)FUSE 3)WEAK FUEL PUMP and in my car it also has a FUEL PUMP RESISTOR. Check to see if yours has one too. Mine is in the front passenger inside fender. That controls the pump during start ups then after warming up the relay takes care of it.

connect a fuel pressure guage in the fuel line and test fuel pressure, the relay is cheap to replace,i would also remove the ignition module and have it tested, the fuel pump does not click,it will run or whine the first time you turn on the key to prime the fuel line after it has primed you may not hear it run cause the line is already primed fuel keeps the pump cool don't run it out of fuel

fuel pump modules are not cheap $300-500 depending on wether you buy aftermarket or gm. and plust the cost of labor to replace which will be 2 hrs or so. with the addtion of diagnosis.
and there also may be the tow charge included in you bill if you didnt already take care of it.
the fuel tank will need to be removed to replace the pump.
