My laptop is not playin the audio from DVD's but does play the audio form a music CD what is the problem?

Update:

Its a cd/dvd player it plays the vidieo from the dvds but not the sound

    well if is dvd drive download a driver from downloads.com

    Check your sound properties. There might be a place to turn the sound off for individual devices, even though this is a CD/DVD player, I have seen them separate.

    Also, make sure that your DVD player can handle the type of DVDs that you are playing, i.e. your player might not play DVD-Rs.

    find out what type of drive it is? it could be a CD reader and not a DVD reader. Make sure you have a DVD reader or at least a Combo Drive to play DVD audio.

    Well some laptops have DVD players installed while others don't check yours and make sure that it does.

    Perhaps you have a cd-rom, but not a dvd-rom. Or check the dvd and see if its computer compatible. If it sayd "DVD (video)" then it won't work in a computer dvd rom.
