i think you have the US keyboard layout, hmmm i think you can change it if you go to start/control panel/regional and language options. then change it to UK . hope that helps

You need to set your keyboard to UK region
Control panel/Regional and Language settings.
It is surprising how many US answers believe that a US keyboard layout is the ONLY one!!
PS you will now get the £ (UK pound sign) on Shift 3

using pliers, pick the keys out and swap them over.
nah, im not serious,
right click on the taskbar and select Toolbars > Language Bar
then it will appear next to the system tray. click on it and select the option for English (United Kingdom). Once done, follow the same procedure, and untick the language bar option.

you have gone with the American keyboard as opposed to the English keyboard......i also had that problem once.....you can change it but don't ask me how......i changed after re formatting but you don't want to do that.........maybe if you take your key board off PC and re load it ? that sure would be right

You're using the wrong code page. I've tried to find out how to change it but sorry, I have been unable. Things were so much easier in DOS.
