5 True and False Question~
Please explain ...
[1] A pencil partially immersed in water appers bent because of the reflection of light.
[2]The colorful pattern observed here in class when mica sheet was placed between polaroid sheets was caused by the interference of doubly refracted light-beams through the mica sheet.
[3] If a plastic ruler is rubbed with a piece of fur, the migration of "free" electrons creates vacacies (of electrons) on the ruler. Then, the ruler becomes a "negatively-charged body"
[4] The magnitude of coulombic force between two charged particles remains unchanged if the amount of each charge is trippled and the distance between them is also trippled.
[5] A light bulb has a resistance of 192 ohms. If it is used on a 120-volt line, the power consumption of the bulb is 75 watts.
Thanks!!!

1. False - it's refraction, not reflection.
2. True
3. False - if the ruler loses electrons, then it becomes positively charged.
4. False - tripling the distance will result in a (3^-2) force (one-ninth).
5. V = I x R, so I = V/R
P = I x V = V^2/R, you can do the calcs yourself.

1]false -due to rfraction of light-light travels along shorter paths, so it will bent at the surface of water as it enters an optically denser medium, from air whch is an optically rarer medium.
2]correct.poloroids restrict the vibrations of the light to one plane and by rfractions two rays 0-ray and e-ray will be formed which will interfere to form these colours.
3]false-it become positively charged as it loses valence electrons to the fur.
4]true-coulombic charge =kq*Q/r^2
if each of the charges is triples they become 3q and 3Q and the distance is tripled ,so 3r
new coulombic force =k3q*3Q/(3r)^2=kq*Q/r^2= preveous force itself.
5]correct-P=v^2/R=120*120/192=75 watts

1. false, it's refraction
2. i think yes
3. can't remember
4. it's probably related to the square of the distance not the distance if i had to guess
5. first find the current i=v/r = 120/192
then multiply the power formula which is ixv to get the power

1. False.... because of the refraction of light
3. False... it because positively charge since free electrons got transferred to the piece of fur

a scientific certainty is a descriptor of a earlier proved hypothesis. New info may be printed down the line that shed new gentle and alter minds inflicting revision, hence a clean hypotheses is needed and if proved...brings some new "certainty" i've got faith the term "scientific certainty" is a different qualifier in as much as info via themselves are, via definition, unchanging and synonymous with the notice actuality. to call it a "scientific" certainty is to truly placed an asterisk next to the notice "certainty".
