Deviled eggs - so easy, and so pretty with a sprinkle of paprika or a sprig of parsley.
Cucumber sandwiches - just fill a regular white-bread sandwich, cut into triangles, cut off the crust, and ta-da!
Cold cuts and cheese. Buy the pre-sliced packages of cheese (for sandwiches.) Let them sit on the counter for 30-45 minutes in their packages (cheese is actually intended to be eaten at room temperature - it won't spoil, don't worry.) Once it's room temp, take one cold cut, place cheese on it, and roll into a tube, starting at one corner of the cheese. secure with a toothpick. Alternate cheese on the outside/inside, and this makes a really pretty platter. Offer dips like honey mustard or whatever you'd put on a sandwich.
I don't think any summer baby shower should be without fruit and veges! Whole strawberries, bunches of grapes (green and purple,) even a bunch of bananas that guests can help themselves to. Then the usual suspects for veges, baby carrots, broccoli, & red bell pepper spears (my *favorite*), with dip (ranch.)
The last thing that pops to mind for an "afternoon tea" sort of baby shower is muffins! They come in a million different sizes, from mini/bite size, to jumbo (like a softball!), and they come in as many flavors too. Pop them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds, put them in a basket lined with a pretty towel, and cover them with the towel so they stay warm. Maybe some butter in a dish of ice nearby. Wow, I'm making myself hungry.
I know it's not a finger food, but I can't think about a summer baby shower without sherbet punch! Just pour a two-liter of ginger ale into a punch bowl, and add a gallon of your favorite sherbet (right before guests arrive.) This is the best, and you can float little candles in it if you want, it's beautiful.
I'm sure it will be wonderful! Happy baby shower planning!

Well...this isn't exactly a finger food but when I'm going to warm weather parties with lots of women I like to take a big fruit salad which pretty much everyone can stuff themselves with without having to feel guilty. And my fruit salad has a secret ingredient...
Lots ot whatever fruits are in season, right now grapes, melon, strawberries, etc. Maybe a pear or two. It's a little early for peaches, plums and cherries but later in the year I use those too. I stay away from any citrus and I don't use bananas but you can use what you like. The secret is to add a can of lychee nuts along with the syrup from the can, stir it til it coats all the fruit and let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour or two before serving.
If you haven't had lychee nuts, they are an asian fruit, kindof like a white plum. They have a very delicate, flowery flavor that turns a plain fruit salad into something really special. When I am taking this to a new group of folks, I usually offer some sort of prize to the person who guesses the secret ingredient.

My baby shower was a few weeks ago, the theme was brunch and my hostess made eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit platter and for the lunch portion got catering. Honestly the cheapest way to go about food for a baby shower is to have a good estimate of the amount of people who are going to be there and just make quantities enough for that amount out of of your own kitchen. I'd say for an outside shower with the foods you listed you could always make like a sandwhich buffet, I think that would be a cute idea, go to the store and buy those long breads (forgot the names, sorry, the ones that look like subway bread, I think it's french bread) buy a deli meat platter and some cheeses, lay out some mayo, lettuce, tomato etc and just let people make their own sandwhich and some bags of chips.

Small cucumber sandwiches are delicious and easy to handle, also easy to make. Buy a loaf of small round bread, can usually find in any good grocery store or deli, rye is really good, cucumbers and dill dip. Spread the dil dip on just 1 piece of the bread, add a sliced cucumber and thats it...good to go and everyone will love them.

Kebabs are a great way to serve a little something for everyone. Make small, individual skewers of chicken or beef, and serve with peanut or horseradish sauces.
A nice complement for veggie kebabs is a dill dip. Alternate red and white tortellini, and serve with red or white sauce for dipping.
Another idea is to toss cooked tortellini in taco seasoning and serve with salsa for a Tex-Mex version.
Tortilla pinwheels are also a quick, easy tasty and colorful hors d'oeuvre. Mix cream cheese, small can of diced jalapeno peppers (drained) and a packet of taco seasoning. Spread mixture on room-temperature tortilla, and roll up. Slice into half-inch sections. Place a toothpick through each section, and serve with salsa and sour cream. Another option is to spread plain cream cheese, salmon or ham, chopped red pepper, scallions and black olives.
Stuffed mushroom caps are an elegant and simple addition to any buffet. Simply remove mushroom stems, blend in food processor with garlic, bread crumbs, melted butter and some onion, then use a cookie scoop to dab onto mushroom caps. Broil for five minutes.
Blend equal parts cream and blue cheeses, and put in pastry pouch. Pipe onto apple and pear wedges, and top with crushed walnuts. Pea pods make a pretty addition to the platter, but take additional time to open and fill.
Chilled marinated vegetables are an easy appetizer that may be prepared in advance. Asparagus spears, pearl onions, spears of zucchini and eggplant work especially well. Blanch the vegetables and marinate in your favorite vinaigrette overnight. Remove from marinade and broil or grill until slightly tender. Chill in refrigerator until time to serve.
Crostini is a multifaceted addition to your table that can be served with a variety of dips/toppings. Crush a clove of garlic in 1/2 cup olive oil. Slice French bread into 1/4-inch slices, place on a baking sheet and brush lightly with garlic/olive oil. Bake at 350 degrees until edges are lightly browned and centers are crisp (approximately 10 minutes). Serve with olive spread, chopped tomatoes and basil or humus.
Cut summer squash and zucchini into one -inch sections, and scoop out the center with a melon baller. Place dollops of chicken or salmon salad in the center.
Slice open apricots and dollop with walnut cream cheese.
Make toast cups with bread that needs to be used. Cut off crust, form in muffin tin and place in oven until crisp. Fill with chopped, sauteed mushrooms and sour cream.
