Disk defragmentation doesn't send the files anywhere special, it only moves the files into a contiguous space on the disk.

The fragmentation of a large file occurs when there is not enough space in a single area of the disk to store the entire file. Therefore, the operating system breaks the large file into fragments, and stores them at individual addresses (or places) on the hard drive. When you defragment the disk, these segments or fragments are all brought together (as much as possible) into a continuous storage area.

Therefore, the files aren't removed from your hard drive, they are only moved around to make them more efficient to access by the hard drive read mechanism.

First of all, please frame your questions precisly so that everyone can understand it. U first spoke about disk defragmentation and then you suddenly speak about system recovery. Well to answer your first question, disk defragmenter does not send defragmented files away from the hard drive. It locates them to the memory cursors to access them faster.

actually a disk defragmentation re orders all your files so they are back in sequence.system recovery while restore your computer to an earlier "snapshot". the snapshot used may not have the files your looking for.in which case youll have to go back to the latest snapshot to have your files.
