Computer doesn't have place for flash drive on front to plug in, got adapter but doesn't work, any suggestions

Update:

Computer is Gateway G6-400 with windows 98 or 98SE can't remember for sure. I don't know what driver it has.

    normallly flash drives are connected or plugged in to a USB port...checked your manual and look for usb port

    Many computershave the USB port on the front ot plug these drives in but many are not connected. Try pluggin it into the USB port on the back.

    get a new usb connectore from walmart or dollar store
