What could be the likely cause?

I have down loaded the softwares for several phones samsung, Motorola, nokia to my computer(different times )but whenever i try to synchronize the phones using a usb cable it is saying unable to connect. Yet it is charging the phones.

Please not the latest one is a Motorola A1200.

xp professional.

Software and cables were brought with phones

    The issue may be the lack of compatibility of the Mot/Samsung/Nokia with each other. Try Samsungs customer support.

    may be your pluggin your usb cable in the other point , except for the one you installed your s/w , try changing the points
