go to the animal shelter and find an adult dog that is mellow and has a history of being good with kids. don't worry about size. my first dog was 55 pounds of lazy pup and he was great in my 2 bedroom apartment.

The best would be a small dog. I have 2 Shih-Tzus and are very different, one is very hyper and the other is always laying around, so the temperament varies.

I think that the best dog would be either a weinerdog or a miniature yorkie. I would say to stick with a small dog. They are the best to have and they are very playful. If your baby is not that playful, then I would suggest a cat.

It sounds odd, but a Great Dane is one of the best apartment dogs and dogs for kids. They are naturally laid back and don't need a lot of exercise because they have a relatively small heart. They are big, and don't live for really long, but they are great for apartments and kids. But generally it really depends on what the personality of the individual dog is, but GD's have great reputations for that.

    Well definitely not a terrier!

I'd suggest a Basset hound, naturally coach potatoes with amazing temperaments and small enough size so that they're comfortable in apartment living. I think a basset would be perfect for you.

Small dog does not necessarily mean good apartment dog- LOTS of small dogs are 'yappers', something that could land you in hot water quickly. i would suggest a greyhound:

Stay away from the terrier group- many breeds there are prone to excessive barking.

  • A brussel griffon active dogs playful, and cute. my brussel griffon just got hit by a car and he was a great dog he was almost like a human

something small, but you have to walk it constantly. Run the dog for atleast 20 minutes a day. Even the small ones.

Any miniature or small breed dog would suit an apartment.
