I just heard Prince Harry of England will be deployed to Iraq. What is your opinion of that?

He has more balls than 90% of the population. That is one kid I would actually salute and bow down too. I think it's great!

Given he has chosen a military career, it is right that he should wish to serve with the troops he trained with.

But he's not just a reconnaisance troop leader.

If his political identity is going to make his regiment's operations more difficult, or put his colleages at extra risk, then I can see the case, for those reasons but not for his personal danger, for not allowing him to go to Iraq.

(It was Prince Andrew, not Charles, who flew a helicopter in the Falklands war. But there was no question there of him being "singled out".)

I am an American, but I do have an opinion.

I have said many times that he will not be alone. Not just his regiment, but "help" will be near, I am sure.

He has the right to assert himself, and his own interests and needs. Especially in this modern time....

I think it is GREAT he wants to go to war. So many governments and officials and monarchies are paying LIP SERVICE to this war.

He is going out to fight it.

Now, I don't know if his agenda is public relations or he likes "soldiering" or the royal family is prompting him or what.

But it is honorable for anyone to serve just as it would be okay if he wanted to PROTEST the war.

It is a free world and England is a free country.

As for the "spare" thing, there are many royal "replacements".

Prince Harry should not have to put his life on hold or compromise due to the fact that he "might be killed".

I might be killed sitting here on this computer. Laugh if you wish, but there were people doing ordinary things who got murdered or caught in a natural disaster to die.

Yes - he choose a career in the armed forces and has to go. He could have picked a different career and stayed out of Iraq. The choice was his.

His going should never have been debated in the first place. His joining the army on the other hand should have!

I think Harry should not succumb to his own pride just to show off what he so desires to boost his own image, but to ask himself these questions:

By his presence in Iraq, will he put those around him in more danger?

What if he should be kidnapped (for there's no knowing whether any one should turn traitor and abide ny the terrorists' rules!). how will that affect his country, his government and his grandmother's subjects.

There are already clear threats in Iraq of bad hats trying to get him. And it's time, this strong-headed prince examine commonsense and not act purely for self-interest and self-pride. I thought he was nuts to say that he doesn't fear of getting killed. He should be considering whether his presence in Iraq would get others unnecessarily killed or whether Britain would have to kowtow to terrorists' will if he should be kidnapped!

Harry isn't the Prince of england. he's the Prince of Wales. As for conflict action?probable in regard to IED's on the line. relies upon on the place his tanks are needed. everywhere in Iraq can at as quickly as grow to be a conflict zone.

He is just another member of the military and should not be given special treatment because he is a royal.

He isn't thrid in line for the throne. Neither is Prince William, contingent on the throne line it would be the second oldest child to the queen. Once she dies it changes again. But to get to your point, prince charles was in the falklands during combat but never seen actual combat. But it sends a message though that they are not protecting people based on royalty.

You should read up on more recent news where they are reconsidering that decision. I think it would have been ok if they would have kept the decision out of the news. But because of that, i don't think it's a good idea because it not only puts him in danger, it puts his fellow troops at higher risks of being attacked.

I am proud of him, he will be fine. He will never be alone there, and it about time someone in the royal family does something to earn all those benefits that they recieve. He will have more respect from me for going and not trying to avoid the situation
