I just quit a week ago, without any cravings. Smoked for 4 years. Key is to want to quit, or have a reason. Evaluate the situations that you associate smoking with, like driving, after a meal, or drinking. These are the situations that you need to control. I used the patch to help with this. Start out with a 21 mg. patch for 7 days, then switch to 14 mg. for 7 days, then if you still need a patch, there is a 7 mg. one. There is also a pill that your doctor can prescribe you that you can use in combination with the patch.
You can also try the nicorette gum or commit lozenge, both of which I think are gross.
Let the people who are close to you, like family, friends and coworkers, know that you're trying to quit. They may help motivate you and give you a reason to keep on with your goal.
Best of luck!

A cartridge to put in the pack that reduces tar and nicotine 90%
plus. Then in a couple of weeks switch onto nicorette.
Fill in with popcycles and gum and hard candies:cinnamon, fruit cream ,chocolate mint. Drink coffee and ice cold soda pop. That should do it.Eat salads raw or cooked vegetables in a large size serving.

I used the patch to help me quit. But, you really have to want to quit, or all of the aides in the world won't help.
