"The Mission" is my personal pick for a cultural anthropology/postcolonial perspective (but none of the characters are anthropologists, just a very anthropologically oriented movie); there are so many movies about so many anthropology careers: archaeology is one of the four branches of anthropology, so an archaeologist IS an anthropologist the same way a cardiologist is an M.D. Forensic anthropologists abound in crime dramas....

try this link--- "The Relic" (about an anthropologist who brings back, you guessed it, a creepy relic) and "The Haunting" (as I recall, in the remake Liam Neeson played the anthropologist- I know the original clearly stated the character was an anthropologist) are horror films which have made good use of anthropology for entertainment (like Indy J)... not quite as heavy as "Gorillas in the Mist" but still have anthropologists...

There is a hysterical movie about an Anthropologist called "Krippendorff's Tribe" which is about an Anthropologist who makes-up a tribe that he is studying, because discovering a new tribe of humans is so very rare now. I love this movie, and it's a pretty fun view of Cultural Anthropologists!

Sadly, all of the Indiana Jones movies are technically about an anthropologist as 99% of archaeologists are essentially anthropologists!

Clan of the Cave bear was a good movie about early humans and Neanderthals. There is also Caveman with Ringo Starr, but that is a comedy.

    26. Prostitutes always look like Julia Roberts or Jamie Lee Curtis. They have expensive clothes and nice apartments but no pimps. They are friendly with the shopkeepers in their neighbourhood who don`t mind at all what the girl does for a living.

I guess you're not searching for documentaries (there would be a lot).

I'm not sure if in "Medicine man" Sean Connery played the part of an anthropologist. Same with "King Kong" (one of the original discoverers could have been an anthropologist). (It's easier to fin archaeologists).

But I would recommend some films for anthropologists:

    "Ballad of Narayama" Shohei Imamura

    "The sand woman" (?)

    "The sheltering sky" B. Bertolucci

    "Atanarjuat The swift runner" (?)

    "Dersu Usala" A. Kurosawa

"Where the green ants Dream" W. Herzog

Source(s): Come on guys! Did you read the question? Gorillas in the Mist is a film about Diane Fossey, a zoologists! Emerald Forest is a film about an engineer! Was there an anthropologist IN the Clan of the Cave Bear film?
