You need to meet the requirements for registered voters.

You need to be a resident of the city whose City Council you want to seek election as a new member of the City Council.

You may want to seek the endorsement of a political party by running in the primary for that party, for that office ( but this is not necessary).

You can run as independent or unenrolled by getting enough people to sign a petition for your name to be placed on the ballot.

You don't need to be on the ballot to run for office , you can mount what is called a write-in campaign when your supporters write in your name in blank space provided on the ballot for this purpose. (You name must be written exactly correct to avoid problems with vote counts.)

You need a platform to run on, if you are running for election.

What are the issues that you see as important to your city?

What are the major problems confronting the city?

How would you solve the problems if elected?

What else needs to be done that has not been done?

How you you go about seeing that what needs to be done is accomplished?

YOU must get the most votes for the City Coucil position.
