X+(X+$20) = $25.50
2X=25.50-20
2X=5.50
X=2.75
So the shovel cost 22.75, and the spade cost 2.75.... good price for the spade.

25.50 total cost
x +x+20=25.50
2x+20-20=25.50-20
2x=5.50
x=2.75
x+20= 22.75
shovel 22.75 spade 2.75= 25.50

2.75 + 22.75 = 25.50

Sh + Sp = 25.50
Sp + 20 = Sh
2Sp + 20 = 25.50
2Sp = 5.50
Sp = 5.50 / 2
