Auto help?

Can some1 tell me what that thing is right under the windshield-wipers. On my 1993 Pontiac Grand Am it is plastic and broke. The kid that owned the car b4 me was in an acciedent and the hood came up smashed the windshield and that plastic thing. It neds to be replaced but I dont know what it is? Can some1 please help?!

    Debris sheild, leaf guard, screen thingie.

    Heater intake vent cover?

    I'm not realy sure.......
