Personal Responce Paper help topics for the Hobbit!?!?

I have to write a personal responce paper on the Hobbit and I have to write about how I am attracted to the novel.

I was thinking about characteristics that Bilbo had and I came up with a great leader, not greedy ( doesn't overcome with greed when in the cave), and I also like how he transformed throught the novel from a nobody to a hero. Or should I write how the book is a big adventure and its nice to imagine fun things like dragons, and treasure once in a while?

I would greatly appreciate any help and ideas!!

I think your ideas are great, but another idea would be to focus on the dwarves. Everyone focuses on bilbo and Smaug and the Treasure because they are the main focal points of the book. Think about the dwarves. How they long for their home in Lonely Mountian. The struggles they faced in loosing it and the fight to get back what they loved.

Don't get me wrong, I love Bilbo, that's what I named my dog! But that's the thing, everyone loves Bilbo. I am sure the teacher reading all the papers would like to read something unique in a stack full of papers about Bilbo.

I think either would be good. You could incorporate some of your thoughts about why you like Bilbo with how you enjoy imagining a world of fun things like dragons and treasures.

You hit on a pretty big theme with Bilbo as everyman becoming a hero -- it is a really important aspect of the novel.

My suggestion would be to discuss how you enjoyed the novel -- and how Bilbo's character being a "plain" hobbit allowed you to imagine yourself in his shoes -- or enjoy it as something that could be attainable....
