Danielle is right. If you saw my city after it got hit by an tornado in 97' it destroyed most of the downtown area. all the buldings there were brick. Just because bricks are stronger doesnt mean they can stand up to a tornado's force. It all depends on how strong the tornado is. If you look @ Greensburg Kansas from Friday's tornado alot of brick buildings were torn down. there was one house made completely of wood and it stood. Just because something is made of brick doesnt mean it could withstand the tornado's force.

Well, an F4 or F5 tornado (like the kind that just struck in Kansas) can actually peel asphalt off the road. A brick house only provides marginally more protection.

In fact, Texas A&M did a study on structures that could withstand a direct hit from strong tornado. The only thing that stood a chance was a reinforced concrete structure with rebar--In other words, the equivalent of a hardened bunker.

So, there is essentially no point.

in this day an age, it is not feasible to make a home completely from brick. thats why you see homes with the brick front, but not completely made of stone. and even if it was made entirely of brick, that is no guarantee it would stand up to the force of a tornado. the buildings left standing were things that were made out of several feet of pure concrete. and not even those structures are guaranteed to remain standing after a tornado

  • Maybe cause most houses in tornado alley are located in some cheap area. So brick houses arent affordable for them.

The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv/ and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
