What does AR-670-1 Say about wearing Navy Jump Wings?

IAW AR 670-1 can a soldier wear Navy Gold Wings with his ACUs as long as he has Marine Corps orders for them?

Update:

Dear Jake,

Get your head out of your duffel bag.

I have a young trooper who has just joined the Army after 4 years in the Corps.

He is an Airborne soldier, but up until a week ago could not find a pair of wings that could be worn on ACUs. The Navy doesn't do subdued wings. After an internet search i found him a pair.

Soldiers put their butt on the line for folks like you. If they have something that they are proud of then i am all for it. I will buy a soldier an award if they will wear it. I just wanted to make sure that he could.

If you disagree with the war, well that is your POV. If you don't want to take care of the troops, well then you have issues that i find rather upsetting.

IAW AR 670-1, dated 3 February 2005, Paragraph 29-13 g, g. In accordance with AR 600–8–22, personnel must obtain authority from HQDA before wearing badges on the uniform that were awarded by other U.S. Services, or by the Director of Civilian Marksmanship. The following rules apply when wearing badges from other U.S. Services.

    (1) Military combat or special skill badges awarded by other U.S. Services that are similar to U.S. Army combat or special skill badges are worn on the Army uniform in the same manner as U.S. Army combat or special skill badges, only if no Army badges are authorized for wear in the same group. For example, a soldier who had no group 3 badges could wear aviation badges awarded by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) as group 3 badges (as Army Aviation and Aviator badges are worn). However, if the individual was authorized to wear an Army badge in group 3, the soldier would not be authorized to wear the group 3 badge from the USAF.

    (2) Skill badges awarded by other U.S. Services that are not similar to Army skill badges are worn as group 4 badges.

    (3) Badges from other U.S. Services that indicate career fields are not authorized for wear, such as USAF medical insignia, or badges used to identify the duty, function, or classification of the wearer. Some examples are USAF fire protection, air training command instructor, security police, or the Naval aviation warfare specialist.

    (4) Personnel will not wear badges awarded by other U.S. Services which, because of size or configuration, cannot be worn as group 4 badges. Subdued embroidered or metal skill badges authorized for wear by another U.S. Service, and that are authorized for wear on the Army uniform, may be worn on utility uniforms in the same manner as prescribed for Army badges.

First, you have to obtain permission, IAW AR 600-8-22. Then, once permission is granted, this award is categorized as a Class 4 badge, and can be worn as such.

I see nothing in AR 670-1 that says that you can't. I personnaly have never seen it done before....it's possible that you might have to put on the regular jump wings.

Any award or decoration so awarded by ANY branch may be worn on the uniform of another service so long as the wearer has been duly authorized to do so. EXAMPLE: If you were prior Army and now Navy and were awarded the CIB in the Army, you may wear that CIB on the Navy uniform.

Here's 670-1. For some reason, my computer won't let me search beyond Page 47. Hopefully your search goes better than mine did.

You only get to wear one set of wings, the higher level. Aviation is higher than Airborne.

Sounds like another egotistical bastard wondering how many medals and aggrandizement he can pin to his chest! Stop the glorification and aggrandizement of war! The first place would be no more medals handed out. They give silver stars if you stop some one from hurting themselves on an open tin can! It's nothing more than puffery and your not the kind we need in the military!
