What would Iraq look like today if the President listened to John McCain from the onset of the war?

The fundamental idea of removing Saddam was an excellent idea. As John McCain said from the beginning of the war,"You have got to dedicate more troops to secure the country after-wards Mr. President." All along he has been saying this.

If Iraq were a self sustaining democracy today Bush would begrudgingly be called an American hero.

With Iraq on Iran's western border and Afghanistan on Iran's eastern border something tells me this was no accident. Iran's extremist terrorist regime is the monetary head of terrorism throughout the middle east. They are under immense pressure to gain nuclear weapons as it is their last vestige to keep their extremist grip on the pro-western population of Iran. They are beginning to tap into their social funds that support the vastly unemployed young adult population within their country. They are about to go bankrupt and this America's doing.

By invading Iraq and Afghanistan are taking out Iran also with economic pressure. An invasion into Iran would cost tens of thousands American lives. Hence three tyrannical regimes are being removed with the least amount of American lives lost.

There were screw ups and bad decisions and WMD'S or not it was a fundamentally good idea to take out Saddam. I wish the current administration would have listened to John McCain and things would look so very different in the middle east today.

In my opinion I believe McCain said that a larger serge initially of troops would have made a huge difference and I agree with that. Hind site. I spoke with a soldier yesterday. He said they fought off cyanide bombs unreported in US news. There was much filtered, good and bad by the news. I hate myself being blocked

from any kind of news. Your ideas flushed down the toilet when you write people in the know. So, McCain's ideas may not have been heard so well. McCain also forwarded the Campaign Finance reform bill and few seem to be listening to him there either.

I like the Senator and wish he had a better chance at the President seat. He would be great in my book.

I also believe our armed forces would still be in the area to

protect US all but out of Baghdad. Location was the key and still alot of bad guys to contend with over there. If, things were different.

I disagree with your premise that "the fundamental idea of removing Saddam was ...excellent". Saddam was the head of state of a sovereign nation, and Iraq had not attacked the US, nor was it an imminent threat. Yes, the Powell doctrine of overwhelming force would have stabilized Iraq, and McCain advocated more troops than Rumsfeld sent. Iraq might have become a "self sustaining" democracy, but the people could have opted for an Islamic, modeled on Iran.

Having served in Iraq I think there would be several obvious changes if we had the troops Mcain wanted. Violence between the Sunni and Shia whould be down. The current gov. would have the resources of American military trainers in the numbers needed to train the Iraqis properly. With a military capable of defending or at least keeping order it would present the US forces with options on its next move. With this many troops on the groun the military would be able to support itself instead of contracting out things the military traditionally has done for its self. Things like cooking and cleaning that KBR is currently doing. This would also eliminate some of the blakwater types who fight in the name of the US but do not have to anwser to the UCMJ. With no one to anwser too there is nothing stopping them from just doing as they please. This behavior helps create the atmosphere of chaos and the thoughts that all of the Americans there are bad and that we are only there for self gain. (just my thoughts I still think it was a bad idea but the outcome could have been better...unless you work for KBR)

I dont know, but if Bush had listened to me, Saddam would still be in power however, Christians would not be fleeing the country in droves becuase of persecution.

An article on Yahoo last night stated that the country was safer for Christians under Saddam then it is now. In fact Saddam's Deputy Prime Minister Azziz was a Christian.

Bush has made the country less safe for everybody but the terrorists.

John McCain will finish the struggle. His plan in established at the reviews of the Generals and the development at the flooring. Barack's plan is situated at the public opinion and the media. Barack has promised close to the sector to his citizens and has no longer stated how he's going to pay for it both. Barack has proposed over one trillion bucks in new spending.

Yeah, right. We wouldn't have 3000 Americans in body bags and an stable middle east if we had only listened to John McCain. It's true. Those who forget (or pay no attention to) history are doomed to repeat it.

What would Iraq look like today if the Bush administration had not lied about WMD? About Iraq's connections to Al Qaeda?

Vietnam marked the beginning of America's descent into a fetid moral sewer, high-lighted (or more appropriately low-lighted) by the deaths of 3,000,000 Vietnamese civilians and the devastating after effects of Agent Orange (compliments of Monsanto). America's light as a beacon of hope for humanity was rapidly extinguished. Ignoring Eisenhower's prescient warning, his successors chose the sword over the plowshare repeatedly. Funneling outrageous percentages of our precious resources into the coffers of the bloated and malevolent military industrial complex, they carried out murderous agendas through direct military intervention, covert CIA operations, and proxies like the Shah of Iran. Sadly, under the last 7-8 presidencies, Democrat and Republican alike, the United States government has evolved into the most powerful terrorist organization on the planet.

Bush and his criminal cohorts have assured US victory in its race to the bottom. Dropping the cloak of altruism, they have come out of the closet and revealed their wicked proclivities. In openly murdering innocent civilians and torturing suspected terrorists under the pretenses of "pre-emptive" military action and the nebulous “War on Terror”, Israel’s Neocon operatives have secured America's place in the pantheon of egregious violators of human rights. Despite having stolen the last two elections, these depraved war criminals continue to act in the name of the American people as they repeatedly urinate and defecate on virtually everything that was truly virtuous in our nation.
