why can't I get chat rooms now?

there have been a lot of yahoo gltiches recently and this could be one of them. try the help link on yahoo messenger and there might be some info there that can help you. otherwise try again each day.

I wish I could help you with this, but I seem to be having the same problem. All I get is a runaround about a software download (that doesn't work on my system) and I've tried it several times to no avail...and then I started remembering that the chatroom experience isn't all THAT, so I gave up on the idea. Here's hoping you get a good answer and I'll tag along for the ride.

There are billions of Yahoo! users all over the world are using Yahoo! and most of us like to have a free chat on here,so there's alot of loads on the server to connect and those chat room servers are busy and so it's hard and time consuming to get into a chat room.

Yahoo has things REALLY SCREWED UP. You might need to first check some settings on your PC.

In your Messenger window:

1. Click on Messenger.

2. Click on Preferances.

3. Click on General.

4. Check box says: "Open web links in new browser window."

5. Check box that says: "Automatically sign me in when I click on a Yahoo link in Messenger."

6,.) Click on Apply.

7.) Click on OK.

If that does not work, you might also need to check these settings:

1.) On your Internet Exploer toolbar, click on tools.

2.) Click on Internet Options.

3.) Click tab that says Programs.

4.) Near the bottom Where it says Default Web Browser, make sure Internet Explorer IS the default web browser.

5.) Click on Apply.

6.) Click on OK.
