Loosen the adjustments on the cables all the way, open the switch housing .

If needed remove the air cleaner, remove idle cable first, then push on the throttle linkage at the carb to make a little more slack and remove throttle cable.

Install throttle cable first, then idle, leave just a little slack when adjusting throttle cable.

Adjust idle cable with throttle in open position, and re-check with throttle closed.

Most Harley riders do it themselves.Always have..always will.Youll have to take apart the switch housing and remove the air cleaner.adjust both cables so you get some slack.Watch how things come apart and then reverse the order..Seriously..get a repair manual for your model..50 bux or so.the adjustment procedure is simple but a little tricky. Its all in the book. While you are at the the dealer pick me up one of those calendars.Oh wait..I dont need one cuz theres some chik in a thong and high heels wantin a ride on my Harley to go look for her lost puppy

First....You should buy the "Shop Manual" for YOUR year Harley....That way you know in advance what's going on...

and , you know the torques of the stuff you'll be putting back together and if it needs Loctite....

Or Just Dive in Blind and hope you get it back together without the throttle locking up on you....Oooops.

Take it to the dealer - that is what most Harley riders do. ;-)

While you are there, get some new shiny bits, a HD sweater for your dog, and a calendar of tatooed gals on bikes, wearing thongs and high heels, and looking like they just lost a puppy.

Seriously though - get a service manual if you are going to start learning to take bits off your bike and do repair work.
