If you are a vegetarian, can you go to college for vetranary science?

It sounds stupid to me,but my daughter wants to be a vetrnarian. She was told she couldn't because she is a vegetarian.Has anyone heard of this?

Update:

my daughter is 12 years old and a 44 year old told her that. She knows what the meaning of both are.

Update 2:

I know it sounds stupid for me to ask this but it may be about the radical vegatarian/animal rights activists setting free the cattle that is raised for beef or any other animal.I'm trying to look it up on different college web sites and really can't find the qualifications or exeptions.

Of course, it's possible to be a vegetarian veterinarian. You wouldn't want to eat your customers, would you?

my guess is that the older person was pulling her leg - or trying to be funny by (poorly) pointing out that to be a vet she will have to cut open dead animals etc...

Other than that, there is absolutely no way a vet school would base its acceptance on what foods a person eats. ridiculous that you would even ask really.

Is your daughter, like, 6 years old? this makes no sense. make sure she knows what the words mean, and is using them correctly.
