i have a huge problem with insurance?

Hello I am going to be a mom! However I have just learned that the state insurance aide I applied for did'nt accept me because I make too much money. What they fail to see is that i barely have enough money to pay for my bills as it is. The insurance i applied for is Healthwave. I really am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I live in Wichita, Kansas, and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about reduced/free insurance in the area. i am going to try my hardest to not go to clinics, although i certainly dont mind as a last resort. so if anyone has info out there it would be so helpful to me! Thank you for your time

HealthWave is your state's Children's Health Insurance Program. I reviewed the eligibility information and found that, unlike some states, they do not mention pregnant women in their criteria.

As far as normal eligibility, the household income would have to be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level in order to qualify. Above 150%, you would be required to make a contribution to the monthly premium of $20-$30. If they are telling you that you make too much money, your household income exceeds the 200% threshhold. Therefore, they feel that you can afford to purchase insurance.

Since you are already pregnant, it would be very difficult to obtain coverage that would cover your delivery. I suggest that you contact a local insurance agent for assistance.

Did you count the baby as a household member, and tell them you're pregnant? Qualifications for pregnant women are more lenient, until the baby is born. As it is, I looked it up, and you must be making over $25,000 a year (counting the baby) to not qualify. If you are, you can probably swing $200 a month for health insurance ANYWAY, although it's probably too late to get a private policy as you're already pregnant. You MIGHT have to put that $200 a month into a payment plan.
