other wildlife rehabbers?

Hey

I have a newborn skunk. umbilical cord still attached.. some lady had her for 4 days on skim milk.. anyhow.. she looks okay.. a little thin.. but she is making a clicking noise. when she breaths. (thru her nose).... I have raised alot of skunk kits.. but none this tiny.. I give her one drop at a time.. and I am very careful.. shes only taking 1/2 cc every 2 hours..

once during the night she took 1cc...

im wondering if she has aspirated...

I know w/ squirrels ( if it isnt bad) you can give them amoxicillin.. and it usually clears up..

anyone know...

if I should go ahead and give her a couple drops..

little squirrels u give 2/10 of a cc... which is basically 10 drops..

so i figure 2 drops for her.. but im not sure shes aspirtated..??

I dont want her to die.. I will be crushed..

thanks!!

Update:

thanks Danielle..

just thought someone may have raised a newborn before.. and maybe the click is the little noise they make..

my vet has never raised one.. she is a vet and all.. but most vets are not even familiar w/ wildlife.. at this point. I would know more than her about the newborn skunk...as for the dosage... I have done it enough to know 2 drops is okay for her. :)

Update 2:

ahh

thank you Mario..

I just found out yesterday that the newborn skunk had been ripped out of its mothers tummy... so hasnt received any milk from mom!!! I immediately put her on colostrum.. and antibiotics.. the weird noise is a sinus infection... from being left out in the rain over night.. with no antibodys from mom..

she is a fighter... and is still with me.. thank god.. but its going to be a long road... and I will lose many hours of sleep.. but I dont care.

Take her to a vet and ask the vet- if you are a licensed and legal rehaber, you can get their opinion, and most will help out at a reduced cost. It is not wise to mix around doses and drugs when you are not sure of the actual problem.
