Resources for Depression and Deployment?

What websites and books do you suggest for training for FRGs on Depression and Depolyment? I am trying to put together some good tools for families when depolyment happens. Any help would be great.

Ok i work with military with mental health and too be honest there is not much in the way of booklets and training i know its stupid!! I suggest contacting the armed forces and asking them to send you some handouts on mental illness and deployment they do have them!!

Some points for families whist there loved one is on deployment is to stay positive, stay away from the news and always talk about good things with the person deployed. If the person expressess that they are feeling depression whislt on deployment then give them as much support as possible but also make them aware that it is ok to talk to their CO.

sorry i cannot be much but i have had experience both professionaly and personal when it comes to deployment.

I'm glad that someone is thinking about doing something thank you. Also i'm not sure as to where you are from or but i have put links from the US military there is a website set up for familes to do with mental health and deployment i have sent a link for it.

A doctor would be a great start to help people identify if maybe they personally are depressed, or to look for the signs in a friend, and how to help that friend.

militaryonesource.com would be a good place to start for suggestions about written material. My husband has ordered a few things for the kids on deployments. Have you tried ACS? That is just a few things that come to mind.
