Any good photo editing software?
I'm looking for a good photo editing software that I can either download or buy. Preferably a less expensive but still good one. Has to work with Windows (I have XP).
Oh, and if it has tools such as filter colours (like black, white and only one other colour comes through, not too sure what its called) that would be great! Please help :)

Take a look at The GIMP - it offers functionality similar to that of Adobe's Photoshop, which is the (expensive!) choice of professionals, but is completely free, and versions exist for Windows, Linux and Mac. There are countless sites offering tips and how-to guides for every major aspect of photo editing using GIMP, and what's really good is that a lot of instructional material directed at Photoshop users primarily can be applied to photo editing with little modification by GIMP users! Indeed, there are many professionals who base their day-to-day post-processing of photographs on GIMP.
About the "filter colours" you mention ... there is a simple "additive selection" (i.e. whatever you are about to select will be "added" to what's already selected, if anything) which will allow you to pick first the white, then the black, and then the red, pink, green or whatever other color, and then "copy" this out and "paste" as a new image (for example), or even delete or do something else with the selected area (fun!).
I've used GIMP on Linux, Windows and more recently MacOSX for years for everything from the creation of diagrams and logos, on to photo retouching, and various fun-time experiments, including things like "stitching" panoramic scenes from two or more "normal" photographs, with results that easily match that of tools such as Photoshop. And ... it's free!!!
My personal opinion is that whilst there are many other tools out there which allow editing of photographs, no shareware or free tool comes close to the professional level of features in The GIMP, and the manner in which these features are made accessible to you - as a newcomer, you only need to familiarize yourself with a handful of tools, adding as your skills grow and your needs widen. I'm pretty confident that you'll have your first photo edited to your satisfaction soon after you've installed the programme and played with it for a few minutes!

Hi ya Photoshop Elements 5 is fab. It has everything you need and more. If you do buy this software then buy a book called the Elements 5 The Missing Manual to go with it. Without this type of book you ll find Elements a real bore. Hope this helps.
