Help!! I get a warning saying I should save my docs cuz the pc will shut down in 10 secs?

Hmmmm... It could be blaster (a computer worm that affected computers running Windows 2000 and Windows XP). The computers most vulnerable are the ones that don't have service pack 2 installed. I recommend putting up a good firewall. ZoneAlarm (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/home.jsp ) is free to download and is one of the best firewalls out there. That will stop your computer from giving you that message. But to get rid of the worm, I'd try a blaster removal tool ( http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.... ) that will take the worm off your computer.

Hi are you sure this isn't Windows Updating your pc with installed Updates? You can disable these by going to Start > Control Panel > Security and then disabling Automatic Updates so that this won't happen.

To check if you DO have a virus, download and run free anti-virus and anti-spyware from AVG at http://www.grisoft.com/ and http://www.ewido.com/

I'll just say this to be the odd one out. If you're connected to a netowrk, it could be that someone is remotely shutting down your computer using a command prompt. And if you aren't, it could be someone has installed a spy program on your computer that restricts your access time (Windows itself can also do this), like a parent or guardian.

virus, use adware se free edition and spybot search and destroy, update definitions and run both seperately, then repair what is found and all should be good, use another browser instead of internet explorer i.e mozzilla or opera, they are much faster and much more secure than microsofts i.e. use a decent anti virus also.
